Take Action!

Get Involved

Educate and inform your people that talking to the FBI, ATF or Local Police will only assist in political repression of your community

Encourage targeted activists to step out and get public.  Shining a spotlight is an excellent defense against fear and repression.

Resist subpoena's to Grand Jury's should any arrive. These are fishing expeditions designed to get you to talk without a lawyer or even a judge present. They will attempt to get you to name other people you went to the protest with to bring them in and spread a wave of fear. A wall of silence is the best defense.

PREVIOUS EVENTS RELATED TO ANTI-WAR 23 CASE

NATIONAL CALL-IN DAY OCTOBER 19

The 3rd National Call In Day to stop FBI repression and stand in solidarity with anti-war activists targeted by the September 24 FBI raids and Grand Jury subpoenas is this Tuesday, October 19.  This is the third group of activists scheduled to appear at the Grand Jury.  All of the activists are refusing to testify, so the Assistant U.S. Attorney Brand Fox has withdrawn the subpoenas thus far.  The Grand Jury continues however, and arrests, or subpoenas offering immunity—forcing activists to talk under the threat of imprisonment–are possibilities.  We need your support.  Please circulate this national call widely.

>>>Call President Obama at (202)-456-1111 and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder at (202)-353-1555<<<

Demand:
**End repression of anti-war and international solidarity activists!
**Return all materials seized in the raid!
**Call off the Grand Jury!

Stop FBI Repression: Call off the Grand Jury, No Charges

On September 24, the FBI raided two Chicago and five Minneapolis homes of well-known anti-war and international solidarity activists.  Also raided were the offices of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul based Anti-War Committee.  Subpoenas to answer questions at a Grand Jury in Chicago were delivered to other activists at their homes and work places.  In the past week, the FBI continues to attempt to harass other anti-war activists at their homes and work.

When dozens of FBI agents stormed in, they took computer hard drives, cell phones, documents, newspapers and children’s artwork.  They took 28 boxes out of one Chicago home, including a framed photo of the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. shaking hands with Malcolm X.  The FBI subpoenaed 14 activists in Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan to testify at the Grand Jury.  According to the FBI, the goal of the raids was to show material support for terrorism charges.  It is outrageous!

All the activists publicly announced they are refusing to testify and want the Grand Jury called off.  The Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Fox withdrew the subpoenas at this point, but it is not over.  The government may force people to testify under threat of imprisonment or make arrests.  The U.S. government is trying to put people in jail for anti-war and international solidarity activism.  These people have done nothing wrong.  They have given money to no one. Their freedom is at stake.

Those targeted are well-known leaders in the anti-war movement and many helped to organize the huge protest against the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN in September 2008.  This is the suppression of our democratic rights.  It threatens our families, our children and our communities.  This is a U.S. government attempt to silence those who support resistance to oppression in the Middle East and Latin America, by putting people in jail.

The targeted activists are refusing to be pulled into conversations with the FBI about their political views or their organizing against war and occupation. The activists are involved with many groups, including the Palestine Solidarity Group, Students for a Democratic Society, Twin-Cities Anti-War Committee, Colombia Action Network, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and Fight Back! newspaper.

“STOP FBI REPRESSION!” Rally and Protest

Friday, October 15, 2010, at 6:30 p.m.

Earle Cabell Federal Building
1100 Commerce Street
Downtown Dallas

On September 24, the FBI raided the homes of and served subpoenas to anti-war and international solidarity activists in Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan.  Homes were searched; belongings were seized, and 14 were subpoenaed to testify before a Grand Jury in Chicago.  The accusation is that the anti-war organizing by these activists in solidarity with the people of Palestine and Colombia constitutes “material support for terrorism.”  None of these activists has sent money abroad or been involved in any violent activities.  On the contrary, they have taken part in conferences and seminars about Palestine and Colombia–to stop U.S. aggression and war.

The anti-war activists are being threatened with long prison sentences.  They each are now refusing to cooperate with the Grand Jury.  Others who have refused to testify before a grand jury have received lengthy prison sentences.

The FBI harassment is continuing, with FBI agents continuing to visit the homes of activists across the country.

Come help us say:

**End the repression of anti-war and international solidarity activists!
**Return all materials seized in the FBI raids!
**Stop the Grand Jury Subpoenas of activists!

Grand Juries – What are they?  How can we resist them?
Sunday, October 10, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.@ Walker Church (in the basement), 3104 16th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55407

In the last week of September, 14 anti-war and international solidarity activists were hit with Grand Jury subpoena’s. These are the most recent but certainly not the only grand jury subpoenas served on activists from different movements around the country.  In this context it is critical that radicals, activists, and supporters of those targeted understand the use of this shadowy institution– including the “rights” they grant us and the rights we claim for ourselves.

Carrie Feldman, a local activist and former member of the Coldsnap Legal Collective, will be speaking about what a grand jury is, how they have been used to target radical movements, and her experience resisting a federal grand jury investigation into the animal liberation movement.

In addition, one of the local antiwar activists targeted by the latest round of subpoenas will speak on the current situation in that case.

Stop the FBI harassment! Say no to government repression of activists!  For more information on the recent raids and subpoenas into the anti- war movement, visit: http://stopfbi.net/ For more information about Carrie’s case, visit: http://davenportgrandjury.wordpress.com
