Jess Sundin is a founding member of the Twin Cities-based Anti-War Committee. Most of her recent activism has been in opposition to the wars and occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan, but she has also worked to oppose US military aid to the repressive governments of Colombia and Israel. For eleven years, Jess has been a clerical worker at the University of Minnesota, and a proud member of AFSCME Local 3800. This has given her a special interest in the plight of trade unionists in Colombia, who are assassinated and imprisoned every day for their union organizing.
Jess was a leading organizer of the anti-war marches at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul in 2008. Jess has participated in various social justice coalition efforts, including around the economic crisis and home foreclosures, as well as the struggle for immigrant rights. Jess is also a member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization. Originally from Spokane, Washington, Jess has lived in Minnesota for almost 20 years. She and her partner now live with their six year old daughter in south Minneapolis.
