Syracuse, NY: Jan. 25 Protest to Stop FBI Repression
Tuesday, January 25, 9:30-10 am
FBI Office, Syracuse Federal Building, Clinton and Washington Sts., downtown Syracuse
We Demand:
**Stop the repression of anti-war and international solidarity activists.
**Immediately return all confiscated materials: computers, cell phones, papers, documents, etc
**End the grand jury proceedings against anti-war activists.
In addition to publicly expressing our concerns, we will also be delivering a letter to Clifford C. Holly, the Special Agent in Charge of the Albany FBI office which covers our region.
The activists and organizations who have been targeted work in solidarity with activists in Colombia and Palestine. The Syracuse Peace Council also has projects working for justice in those regions and working in support of activists on the ground. We must stand up and protect our rights of free speech and to organize to oppose US policies!
Background
On Friday, September 24, 2010, FBI agents raided seven homes and an anti-war office in Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan. The FBI also handed subpoenas to testify before a federal grand jury to fourteen activists. These activists are involved in many groups, including the Twin Cities Anti-War Committee, the Palestine Solidarity Group, the Colombia Action Network, Students for a Democratic Society, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization.
