National Day of Action to Protest FBI and Grand Jury Repression

In December 2010, the FBI delivered nine new subpoenas to anti-war and solidarity activists in Chicago. Since September the state has served 23 subpoenas. The newest subpoenas order the nine people to appear at a grand jury in Chicago on January 25th.

All subpoenaed activists have so far refused to cooperate with the grand jury's probe.

The Committee to Stop FBI Repression is calling for solidarity events in every city on that date.

The Philadelphia press conference will take place just prior to an important meeting being organized in Philadelphia to "STOP FBI ENTRAPMENT OF MUSLIMS."

The speakers who are on the evening panel have agreed to come early and speak at the press conference. They include:

Steve Downs - Retired New York State attorney and a founder of Project Salam, which believes many innocent Muslims have been targeted, prosecuted & convicted since 9/11;

Dominick Calsolaro - Member of Albany, NY City Council that passed a Resolution in Support of Justice for Muslims Targeted by Preemptive Prosecution;

Laila Yaghi - Mother of Ziyad Yaghi, North Carolina resident arrested by FBI after visiting Jordan in 2006.

Burim Duka - Brother of three of the Ft Dix 5, unjustly convicted and imprisoned, now in Supermax prisons;
