Thank you for your solidarity! On May 15, we will go to court where we will be assigned to a trial court, if available. When we get a court assingment then we will start jury selection wich may take 1-2 days, then trail will officially start. so just to be clear May 15 will be to get assinged to an avialable court room. So you still have time to come to LA or send your letter of support and any donation to pay for the legal/political defense work, the struggle continues!
I called both numbers (well the same number with different extensions.)
Only left messages, though at first it was a minor bit trouble of not getting through but eventually I did to both parties.
The woman answering sounded a bit overwhelmed!
We all have to come together regardless of our background and religious beliefs! We are all human and should be looked upon as humans. In this fight against "war on terror" my innocent son who would not even kill ants on my kitchen sink is now sentenced to 32 years!!!! He already spent almost 3 years in jail for doing absolutely nothing!!! (nothing illegal took place and he did not harm or touch anyone) even if we want to take it to the extreme, he did not even have "thought crimes" because he was not in any of the 700 hours of tape recordings!!! Moreover, when Daniel Boyd was cross examined after pleading guilty to get 8 or more of his charges dropped, said that he never conspired with my son (Ziyad) to kill or maim people or to hurt anyone! I need your support as much as possible! I need this injustice to stop against Muslim people. Let us all stand together and fight this injustice. Staying quite to it is just as being an accomplice! Also, because I spoke up in DC last week, I have not heard from my son and am so worried about him and because one of the co-defendants brothers
(Sherifi) spoke in DC, now he is arrested on terrorism charges! It is so so sad to hear that a young man, who is only 21 just because he is speaking up for his brother also got accused of conspiracy. His family is devastated! His mother is an emotional wreck and his father has stage 4 cancer!!! To all the people with conscious, please help us

On wednesday I could make gainsville with a ride, but thursday would be a problem, I'd like to attend, but I have to work that night.

The most recent FBI attack was on Chicano activist, Carlos Montes.
His door was broken down by the FBI at 5am, May 17th, 2011.
The FBI attempted to question Carlos, but he refused.
This intimidation will stop!

Since The PATRIOT Act, both Administrations, have harassed and hassled dissenters in so many ways. Without a way to watchdog our civil liberties will be ignored
What, precisely, are the charges? What justified a joint Los Angeles Sheriff Department and FBI SWAT team operation to arrest this man and seize his property. There are any number of internal threats to the USA and the largest is the "Christian Identity" movement. There are also many other right-wing, white power extremest militias. Why target Mr. Montes and not them? This is a clear violation of the civil rights of Mr. Montes and it is a flagrant, immoral, and unconstitutional abuse of power.
What was found during the raid? Stockpiles of illegal weapons? Large amounts of illegal drugs? Bomb-making equipment? Plans for terrorist acts? Or did they find nothing more than records of civil actions and plans for further protests?
This was an act with no purpose other than to intimidate social activists who advocate policies that anger the plutocrats and corporations to whom "our" elected officials report.

Why does it seem that the few people that have given up their life to fight for justice alwasys seem to be getting pushed down.
I am asking from the most huble part of my heart to stop this injustice.
I personally know Carlos Montes, and he is a true inspiration to our community.
He does not support violence! He has help empower our community by helping us see the greatness of our culture, to appreciate the good and the bad of our people. He has been part of the struggle to gain the rights we have know as Mexican Americans. Carlos Montes and every other fighter for justice does not deserve this type of treatment.
Please be the public servant that we are proud to honor and respect.
Prosecute only when it is deserved based on evidence not on assumptions.

As a Chicano Studies major(CSUN) I hereby protest this action by the police authorities involved. He is an activist loyal to the many causes that have cost innocent lives lost in the East Los Angeles barrio(Ruben Salazar is the first one to come to my mind) and the current L.A. County Sheriff is not above the law.He was ordered by the attorneys and Supervisor Molina to divulge to the L.A. Times reporters and the American public the mysterious.circumstances that led to Mr. Salazar killing by a sheriff's deputy during the Chicano Moratorium.Mr. Montes has been a major force behind the movement to share this information that was hidden in 9 boxes of documents hidden by Mr. Baca. who originally fought to preserve the incriminating documentation from the media and the citizens.The United States of America is still a free country where we still enjoy our freedoms and constitutional protections granted to those of us who exercise our civil rights ever since we became a nation independent of the European monarchs.
