4/8/2012 Denounce Supreme Court Decision to Protect Liars   On April 2, 2012 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously in Rehberg v. Paulk that police investigators are immune from civil damage suits for giving false testimony to a grand jury. Grand juries are secret courts, run solely by prosecutors, with no judge, and those being investigated have no right to a lawyer or to having evidence favorable to them being presented. Now the Supreme Court rules that law enforcement agents who lie in these official proceedings cannot be held accountable in civil court for lying.   
9/22/2011 Support Civil Liberties, Protest Political Repression: One-Year Anniversary of FBI Raids on Anti-War Activists   This weekend there will be events and protests across the country to defend civil liberties and oppose political repression.  It is one year since the FBI raided two homes in Chicago and five homes plus the Anti-War Committee office in Minneapolis, handing out 14 subpoenas including two in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  
10/22/2012 Press Release: National Day of Action in Solidarity with the Holy Land Five   Leaders of the anti-war and Palestine solidarity movements, joined by civil liberties advocates, are planning a Free the Holy Land Five national day of action on October 25, 2012. The protest is part of a national day of action called by the Holy Land Five/Freedom to Give group and the Committee to Stop FBI Repression. Their statement explains, “The Holy Land Five need our urgent solidarity.

1/26/2012 Report on Carlos Montes Court Hearing There was an extremely serious development in Carlos Montes case concerning six felony charges on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lomeli denied the motion to dismiss, setting the stage for trial later this year. A Prosecutor stated in the press that Carlos faces up to five years in prison. So now, the fight is on!

Mr. Holder will be speaking at the McNamara Alumni Center on the University of Minnesota Campus where the event will take place.

1/23/2012 Committee to Stop FBI Repression condemns unjust sentences for 3 young Muslims in North Carolina The Committee to Stop FBI Repression condemns the sentencing last week of three young Muslim men in North Carolina to between 15 and 45 years in prison each. Before sentencing, the judge noted that she had received hundreds of letters in support of the three men urging her to hand down the minimum sentence. Despite this, Ziyad Yaghi, Omar Aly Hassan, and Hysen Sherifi received nearly maximum sentences for a 'terrorism' case. Even the LA Times was critical because "prosecutors named no targeted victims...places, times or dates of attacks."

8/30/2016 Rasmea’s prosecutors deny the horror of torture; Judge Drain accepts their argument Rasmea Odeh, a survivor of vicious torture at the hands of the Israeli military, will be compelled to undergo hours of psychological evaluation by a government forensic examiner, according to a ruling by federal Judge Gershwin Drain. Drain cancelled a Sept. 22 hearing on the matter in Detroit, where supporters from across the Midwest had planned to join Odeh.
